President of BFSU and Chairman of ICWAR’s Board of Trustees PENG Long Attended Shanghai Forum 2016 Annual Conference

Shanghai Forum 2016 Annual Conference opened in Shanghai International Convention Center on May 28. The theme of the forum is " Economic Globalization and the Choice of Asia—Interconnectivity, Integration and Innovation: Building Community of Common Destiny in Asia". PENG Long , President of BFSU and Chairman of ICWAR’s Board of Trustees , Professor GUO Qiqing, deputy director of ICWAR attended the conference.

During the conference, President Peng Long respectively met with Mr.Park-In kook, President of Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies and Professor Yeom Jae-Ho, President of Korea University& Chairman of KFAS’s Board of Trustees. President Peng Long and President Park-In kook both suggested that BFSU and KFAS should further their cooperation and jointly promote ICWAR’s development in the future. President Peng Long also exchanged his ideas about future cooperation between Korea University and BFSU with President Yeom Jae-Ho.

On May 29, President Peng Long visited Hunshan city in Jiangsu Province and held an in-depth discussion with Mr. Xu Huimin, Deputy mayor of Suzhou City & Secretary of the CPC Committee of Hunshan City about the cooperation programs between BFSU and Hunshan City.

Shanghai Forum, known as one of the most famous international forums held in Shanghai, co-hosted by Fudan University and KFAS, undertaken by Fudan Development Institute, endeavors to build an interactive platform for multi-sided communication among the academic, political, commercial, and press circles through which significant problems both in Asia and the world will be discussed comprehensively and profoundly, so as to seek consensus on Asia’s economic, political ,social and cultural progress.

Shanghai Forum 2016 Annual Conference, with more than 700 guests and delegates from think tanks, universities, governments, enterprises, media and other institutions all over the world , is divided into four sessions: Integration & Innovation, Coordination & Governance, Green Development and Cooperation & Sharing with a total of 10 round-table conferences, 14 sub-forums on issues about industrial manufacturing, innovation and creativeness, the Belt and Road initiative, air pollution governance , G20 summit , financial innovation, think tank construction, etc. Present at the opening ceremony were Tu Guangshao , Executive Vice Mayor of Shanghai, Xu Ningsheng, President of Fudan University, Xu Tao, Director of Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, and Chey Tae-Won, Chairman & CEO of SK Group in South Korea. Keynote speeches were delivered by the following guests: Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, former Indonesian President, Dagfinn Høybråten, Secretary-General of the Nordic Council of Ministers and the former chairman of global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, Derek Aberle, President of Qualcomm Incorporated, Enrico Letta, former Italian Prime Minister and Dean of College of International Affairs in Sciences Po Paris, and Rosario Marin, 41st Treasurer of the United States. The topics included opportunities and challenges of Asia’s further cooperation and development, EU integration and Asian community of common destiny as well as investment and innovation.
